Hello again fellow lovers of fine food!

We welcome Sophie Budd for our final workshop at Taste of Balingup before we break for the silly season. Sophie, a Cornish chef, now residing in Perth will bring her knowledge of fresh pasta making to Balingup for two workshops on the 7th and 8th of December.

Although still very young (she is only 27!), Sophie has a wealth of experience behind her, and has worked for some internationally known British chefs. Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver are just two of these, and as the pasta chef at Oliver’s ‘Fifteen’ in Cornwall, was fortunate to be taught by the fabulous Gennaro Contaldo. Now in Perth, Sophie is dedicating herself to fresh pasta. She conducts cooking classes as a guest chef around the Perth metropolitan area and has a permanent spot at the Fremantle Farmer’s Markets where she demonstrates her pasta making prowess and retails her pasta and sauces.

We are fortunate to have Sophie in Balingup for two workshops. Monday evening at 5.30pm for an evening class and Tuesday morning at 10.00am for a day class. She will teach the art of making fresh pasta, and in addition will teach basic gnocchi making and risotto making. This class is interactive, so be prepared to get your hands dirty!

Workshop details:
- where: 18 Steere Street, Balingup
- when: Monday the 7th December & Tuesday the 8th December
- time: Monday-5.30pm, Tuesday-10.00am
- cost: $90.00 per person

You will need to bring an apron. Pasta machines will be provided and available for purchase for anybody wishing to buy one. All ingredients and notes will be supplied.

There has been some interest in spelt pasta. If anyone would like to learn how to make pasta with spelt flour, please let me know. Although I can’t confirm at this stage, it may be possible to use spelt flour in one of the classes if numbers are sufficient.
